SAFDF celebrates its 67th year as a festival, bringing the best of master international dance teachers, including Franklin Houston, John Rodi and Andy Taylor-Blenis to our weekend of workshops. It’s not just the workshops that are great, its also the meals we enjoy together and the dance parties. It’s the opportunity to dance to the live music of Slavadillo, see some incredible performances and dance until the wee hours of the morning on a huge, sprung wooden dance floor. Enjoy old dance friends, and meet new friends while we dine together at some of San Antonio’s best restaurants. At our 67th annual festival, we continue these long- held traditions. We invite you to OLLU -Our Lady of the Lake University March 28-30, 2025 for a fun folk dance weekend of fabulous workshops and parties.

This year our teachers include, Andy Taylor-Blenis (International), Franklin Houston (International and Classics), and John Rodi (American, Zydeco, Cajun and more). Plus, there are parties that feature the live music of our favorite local band, Slavadillo. The big surprise is John Rodi is bringing his performance group from Louisiana, Komenka. We will start off the weekend on Friday night dancing alongside John Rodi and his internationally renowned performance group. Komenka! They are planning a fabulous dance suite of Cajun, Zydeco and other styles. John Rodi, Franklin Houston and Andy Taylor-Blenis are Master Teachers who will present a wide variety of international dance styles.

San Antonio City – experience the culture

OLLU is located just 4 miles west of downtown San Antonio. Take time to visit the Riverwalk during one of our breaks or stay an extra day to take in the beauty of San Antonio’s famous sites like the Alamo. Many of our dancers go to the El Mercado (just 2 miles from OLLU) to shop for clothes, decorations and other specialties from south of the border.

March is the ideal time to experience San Antonio. The weather is typically between 60 and  85 degrees, and many of our out of state friends want to escape from the cold weather to enjoy some warm days of fun in the sun!
