2024 NFO Conference

April 4 - 9 in Bruceville, Texas

Two great opportunities at the same time!

NFO Conference and Total Solar Eclipse Viewing

With Special Guests – Jaap Leegwater and Filip Filipov!

This year’s conference will have everything you’ve come to expect from NFO – a broad array of fascinating workshops, presentations, music and dance, our annual membership meeting and elections – and a wonderful opportunity to network. We’re also very excited that Jaap and Filip will be joining us to present Bulgarian dance and music. More info here. Come join us and bring your dancing shoes!

This year we hope to observe a special bonus, a total solar eclipse! Take advantage of this rare celestial event; the next total solar eclipses visible in the US won’t occur until 2044 or 2045.

We are also working closely with our collaborators, Hora Eclipse and Kochavim Dance camp (sharing our location) and planning several events for both groups together.

Travel

We hope you have gotten your reservations all set for your trip to Bruceville. The deadline to fill out a form to have us connect drivers and riders has passed. If you are still planning to come and have questions, please contact us at nfoconfquestions@gmail.com as soon as you can.

Registration

Conference registration includes lodging for 5 nights, meals, and all NFO Conference activities. Fees range from $500 to $650 per person for the entire Conference, depending on your room assignment. The rooms at Greene Family Camp are described in detail on the Location page. For those living close by or who manage to find other nearby lodgings, there is a less expensive commuter rate; but be warned that due to the eclipse, many hotels are already booked and room rates are high.

There are no private accommodations and as of September 15, our semi-private accommodations are SOLD OUT, though we still have cabin and eco-dome spots.

For those who live nearby or have lined up their own accommodations and transportation in the area, we are offering a Commuter rate which covers meals and NFO Conference activities (not lodging): $325

Unique Partnership

For more programming fun, we will be holding our event in conjunction with Hora Eclipse 2 and the annual Kochavim Israeli Dance Camp.

Upon arrival at camp, we will require rapid testing, using tests that we provide. As always, we will offer a complete refund (less $20) if you can not attend due to illness of any sort. See complete policy here.

Your First Eclipse?

If you’ve never witnessed a total solar eclipse, this is your chance! We’ll have experts on hand to guide you, and special presentations on astronomy and perhaps we will learn a bit on how astronomy influenced ancient folk arts. On eclipse day, we’ll all safely watch this dance of celestial bodies from camp and then have a few more presentations and an ending dance party to celebrate. More info here.
