NFO Conference: Arrival Instructions

2024 CONFERENCE ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS

It’s almost time to meet in Texas!

The Greene Family Camp is located at 1192 Smith Lane, Bruceville, TX

See their website for several different forms of directions. If you are arriving after dark (8 pm) you may want to print out their turn by turn directions from the highway to the camp in case your GPS gets confused. It has happened in the past! greene.org/contact-us/map-directions/

We will have the gate open and NFO greeters ready in the parking lot on Thursday from noon – 8 pm and Friday from 10 am – 6 pm to hand out packets, perform Covid tests, and point you to your lodging.

If you know ahead of time that you will be arriving outside of these times, please let us know (between 7 am and 11 pm if possible!) so we can line someone up to help you out when you get there, whenever that is. The gate will be closed except for the times above, so you will need to call us to let you in.

  • Before Thursday noon or after 8 pm, text or call: Jo 978-846-2649
  • Before Friday 10 am, text or call Mady 630-251-0811
  • After Friday 6 pm, text or call: Catherine 402-369-9827

We will give out the Gate entry Code only to NFO registered attendees and only if needed. Please do not share it with others. We are taking security very seriously this year.

Best of luck with your travels – be sure to bring lots of patience along and be ready to deal with disruptions with a skip-hop and a smile. See you soon!

NFO Conference Packing List

Packing List

Remember that Greene Family Camp is not a hotel – so no hair dryers or toiletries are provided. You will be walking outside (on grass, gravel and pavement) from your room to the dining and dance halls and other places.

The Camp will provide: pillow, light blanket, sheets & pillow case, bath towel & face cloth. If you are driving, please consider bringing extra labeled sheets, towels and blankets for those who may need more than what the Camp provides. Thanks.

All rooms are heated and have electrical outlets, but you may want to bring an extension cord or power strip.

Please note that the Camp is NUT FREE to avoid serious allergic complications. We are working with the kitchen to accommodate all the various diets needed for this event. But if you have specific needs, consider bringing along some foods you know you can eat. The kitchen is setting aside some refrigerated space for camper use. Also, you are welcome to BYOB.

NFO will be providing special SOLAR ECLIPSE EYEGLASSES to everyone.

Temperatures for Bruceville in April average 60-70’s daytime; 40-50’s at night.

Essentials:

  • Toiletries
  • Medications
  • Clean dance shoes (no outdoor shoes on the dance floor, please!)
  • Emergency contact name and phone number (we’ll collect at check in)
  • Charging cables for your devices
  • Money for extras like your contribution to sharing a ride to and from camp, Jaap’s workshop materials, camper activities TBA.

NFO Conference WhatsApp

We’ll be using WhatsApp as our communication tool at our 2024 conference. We’ll have two groups in our community, a Chat group where everybody can chat and share information, and an Announcement Group where we will post announcements about Camp for all to see. Most people use their cellphones for this.

Here’s what you need to do to join our online community.

Click on this link to join WhatsApp

— If prompted, download the WhatsApp application and join WhatsApp with your mobile phone number and name.

– Or if you are reading this on a computer, it may be easier to use your phone and the QR code below. Again, you may need to download the application first and then join.

I will need to approve all applications to join – so your name is important so I know who you are. Use the same name as you registered with.

WhatsApp is an end-to-end encrypted message platform that uses either wifi or cell phone data. Greene Family Camp is over 100 acres, and has wifi and cell phone coverage that varies over the terrain so having both options could be helpful. Membership will be limited to only 2024 Conference registrants. Posts to the group will be seen by all members, and we hope to send out the daily schedule and any needed updates to the Announcement group. That way, for example, if the campfire is rained out (heaven forbid!), you’ll be notified. Join now and see who else is coming!

When you’re ready to use the app, here’s a helpful video. Click on this link for the video.

After the conference, feel free to share your photos and videos in the group by the end of May, 2024. We will discontinue the group after that.

NFO Conference Covid Policy

After long consideration by the NFO Conference Committee, and also in consultation with the Greene Family Camp and Hora Eclipse/Kochavim, we have set our Covid policy for the 2024 Conference.

 AT CAMP (AND AFTER)

TEST REQUIRED UPON ARRIVAL.  Upon arrival at Greene Family Camp, pull into the parking lot, where you will be met by our Covid testing team.  We will be providing the tests to do this. Those who test positive will need to leave camp*.

NO PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIRED.  While we do not require proof of vaccination, we urge everyone to get Covid-19 and other vaccinations.

NO MASKS REQUIRED.  Although we do not require masks, we strongly encourage campers to wear them if they are comfortable doing so. We recommend N95 masks.

REPORT ILLNESS DURING CAMP.  If you feel ill during camp, you must immediately contact Conference staff.

We encourage you to bring test kits with you in case you develop symptoms during the Conference. We will have a few kits available for purchase if you need them.

REPORT ILLNESS AFTER CAMP.  If within 10 days of attending the Conference you come down with Covid-19, RSV, or the Flu, please contact us at moc.liamg@rartsigerofn We will respect your privacy while alerting other attendees.

 BEFORE CAMP

*We advise everyone to take an antigen test immediately BEFORE traveling to camp. We don’t want anyone to come without testing, then test positive at registration, and have to immediately leave camp!

REFUND POLICY

Full registration refunds (less $20) will be available if you need to cancel for illness.
